A story of a young black boy growing up in the small southern town of Baton Rouge, LA, in the late 1950s, including the adventures in the segregated Deep South with one singular thought: How do I get out of here? I had no idea what it was or why I even wanted it, but I felt compelled to have it and I set out to get it by any means necessary. At the age of 12 when I visited New York for 2 weeks (with my parents and sister), I was hooked. My story is how at 19, I left the small town for the big city--my new home--New York. How I moved on the same street as one of my idols, Jackie Kennedy. It is a story of how I became the host of the longest running weekly cable TV jazz talk show--The JaRon Eames Show, interviewing, preserving, and archiving many of the legends of jazz: Nancy Wilson, Oscar Peterson, Anita Oday, George Wein, Clark Terry, Margaret Whiting, Dr. Billy Taylor, the last known interview with the legendary singer Joe Williams, and even comic legend George Carlin. It is a story of how I met with, laughed with, wined/dinned, and sexed the rich and famous; how I traveled the world at an early age, living the life of a jetsetter until years, drugs and alcohol took control of my mind and I ended up in a straightjacket in the mental ward. It is a horror story, yet so full of laughter, tears, love, hope and redemption.

Tears of Gaza by Vibeke Lokkeberg is a documentary film that should be watched by every American, to see how Israel spends our taxes. Every European should watch it, to see the true face of Israel. It should be viewed by every Arab, to renew our resolve not to allow a racist nation to wipe Palestine and her children from the map and from history.
I had read the stories from Gaza after Israel's so called "operation cast lead". I had read the reports. I thought I had cried enough then not to cry again. But this film went to my heart, stirred everything up, made the tears fall and fall and here I am now, with a hollow, spooned out hole in my gut because bombs were dropped on sleeping children, helicopters rained the death and disfigurement of white phosphorous on terrified civilians huddling at a UN school for shelter… and no one is doing anything about it.
 
Tears of Gaza lays bare the lies, the cover ups and Richard Goldstone's moral flip flopping. It takes you into the heart of Gaza's tormented landscape to show the truth behind craven and mendacious headlines with words that describe Israel's slaughter as an "incursion" or "self defense". This film shows us these truths through the luminous spirits of children. It is not to be missed!
I first heard of Tears of Gaza when Bernard Henri-Levi launched an attack against Lokkeberg and me in major newspapers throughout Europe. She and I were in touch after that and I was finally just able to get hold of the film to watch it. It is a monumentally important work. It is beautiful and painful and honest and devastating.
Vibeke Lokkeberg gives us the names, faces, and stories of three ordinary Gaza children with extraordinary spirits. We first fall in love with Yehya, a 12-year-old boy who wants to become a doctor so he can heal people who are shot by Israelis. We see him on a small motorboat, lost in the magic of childhood as he is taught to steer the boat. His beautiful eyes and brilliant smile during these moments make his tears all the harder to bear when he talks about his beloved father. The losses that follow in his life are incomprehensible and overwhelming merely to hear about.

Ynet's Washington reporter, Yitzhak Ben - Horin, produced last night a clear and succinct reading of Obama's recent UN General Assembly  address:

"Likudnic in the White House."

"Netanyahu could not have written it better." 

"Obama at this point, is in line with the Likud party."

"Obama is a pro-Israel president …Since January 2009, he provided Israel with all its needs both in diplomacy and in terms of security"

Obama is not performing too well in the polls. He clearly needs the Jewish Lobby on his side. The American president 'provided' yesterday and the lobby was quick to react- "Israel has no better friend in the world today," wrote the president of the National Council of Jewish Democrats, David Harris.

According to Ynet,  hours before his UN General Assembly Address Obama sought to ensure that prospective Jewish voters pay close attention to his speech.

"Three of Obama's aides held a conference call with the president's Jewish supporters and community leaders. The advisers, all Jewish themselves, asked the supporters to "spread the word" that Obama will give a pro-Israel speech which reflects his own genuine positions and implored them to pay close attention to the president's UN address."

The 2008 prize was awarded to Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien for their work on green fluorescent protein or GFP. Douglas Prasher actually first cloned the gene for GFP and suggested its use as a biological tracer. Martin Chalfie stated, "(Douglas Prasher's) work was critical and essential for the work we did in our lab. They could've easily given the prize to Douglas and the other two and left me out." Dr. Prasher's accomplishments were not recognized and he lost his job. When the Nobel was awarded in 2008, Dr. Prasher was working as a courtesy shuttle bus driver in Huntsville Alabama.[22]
