Italian Team's 2nd mission in 2010 saves more lives in East Jeruaslem

For the 2nd time in 2010, and for the 10th time since November 2007, a team from Messa, Italy provided life-saving surgery for sick babies from the West Bank and Gaza Strip at Makassed Hospital on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem.  Led by Dr. Stefano Luisi, the team included surgeon Dr. Luigi Arcieri,  physioyherapist Maura Dell'Amico, anesthetist Dr. Elisabetta Perversi and perfusionist Ilsa Britta Haggner.    This is part of an ongoing program to provide training for the local staff at Makassed in an effort to build the first and only independent, free-standing congenital heart program for children in Palestine.  The team from Messa has not only been treating Palestinian children in Makassed and even taking kids for free care in their hospital there from the PCRF, but also helping to provide short-term training courses for Makassed staff in Italy.  For more information on this program, which has saved hundreds of Palestinian children's lives over the past several years, please visit us here.
