Last Sunday, a great patriot and much-admired friend, the well-known German-American author, Hans Schmidt, has passed on. His wife, Roswitha, just notified me - and I believe that many of you would want to know.
Hans had suffered a massive stroke several years ago, and his death did not come unexpected. However, to lose a friend and fellow "warrior of the pen" is still a shock that brings great sadness when it happens.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the following location:
