Re: What "Killing bin Laden" Doesn't Do

From a reader:

When I first learned of the operation I was certain several movies would be made about it in short order. But now that I've learned that Bin Laden and the three other adult males who were killed were unarmed and offered no resistance, and the adult female who first was killed as she was used as a human shield, and next killed in a crossfire, actually was simply shot as we now know there was no crossfire as only the Seals were shooting, and that there were ten women and small children in the room with Bin Laden when the Seals burst in, and some still there when they shot him, it does seem that Joe's characterization of the operation is spot on, and anything like an accurate movie portrayal would only be embarrassing.

It now seems like they could have easily taken Bin Laden alive, so the question now is, and from now on will be, why didn't they?

The mission that killed Osama bin Laden has been touted by the usual politicos and media talking heads as something straight out of mission impossible. I don't see it that way. To me it had all the sophistication of a home invasion in an upscale neighborhood  by some minority thugs. Except for the fact that they showed by helicopter rather than a stolen SUV, what was the difference ? They murdered the unarmed sixtyish owner who offered no resistance and wounded his wife. They then ransacked the house for anything valuable and then fled with the dude's body. They also ambushed and killed a few other people in the house. This job could have been subcontracted to either Crips or the Bloods and had the same outcome...all that would have been needed was some white guy to fly the chopper.
I wonder if they've already sold the movie rights. If they have, you can rest assured it will be a diverse bunch of seals...an obligatory black, jew , hispanic , woman and perhaps even a homo.   joe
