Prof. Marcuse's website:

When Did Hitler Become an Anti-Semite?

Hitler's key letter on why antisemitism is important was just purchased for $150,000. See: http://tinyurl.com/3twtu6t

A translation of the letter itself can be found at:
http://www.h-net.org/~german/gtext/kaiserreich/hitler2.html

The letter is important because it is the first documented instance where Hitler said or did anything antisemitic. (Historians debate whether he became a rabid antisemite in Vienna before WW1, as he claims in Mein Kampf, or whether he began to espouse this ideology in Munich after the war.)

He wrote the letter in answer to an inquiry at the request of Captain Karl Mayr of the Reichswehr, who had hired him in the army's program of indoctrination of returning POWs and observation of political groups. Just four days before writing this letter, Hitler had attended a meeting of the DAP (which he would later rename NSDAP) for the first time. An interesting relic!
