The only thing that holds America together is material prosperity.

Basically the country is not a nation at all but a federation of antagonistic racial, ethnic and financial groups.

The money is beginning to run out.  The standard of living has been declining for the past 30 years but it hasn't been a drastic or universal decline.  Americans are by nature optimistic so millions of them have gone on believing that their standard of living will go up again.

But it is beginning to dawn on the "sheep", that it's not going to get better.

If Americans in general ever come to believe that the good times are over, the country will erupt into an explosion of racial, ethnic and class hatreds that may make Bosnia look like child's play.
