The undercovered country

Haiti's recent historyGreg Marx interviews three Haiti experts in order to give reporters some context on the country's recent economic and political history. (The experts also talk about the questions that reporters have been asking them over the past couple of days.) 

Haitian Times heads to Haiti: The Haitian Times, based in Brooklyn, is an English-language newspaper that caters to Haitian Americans across the country. Alexandra Fenwick caught up with editor Garry Pierre-Pierre, and talked with him about how his paper is covering the crisis. 

The undercovered country: Until Tuesday, there had been just two full-time American correspondents stationed in Haiti. Sam Eifling writes about Haiti as journalists have known it: "a place usually painted by wariness and fear and resigned pity."
