'NYT' commenters rationalize attacks on Rabbi Lerner for backing Goldstone

The Goldstone report (read it here) continues to be the big threat to the American Zionist community. Per the New York Times' Julie Bosman:
Michael Lerner, a rabbi and the editor of the leftist Jewish magazine Tikkun, has been the target of vandalism because of his magazine's support of Richard Goldstone, the South African judge who led a committee that published a report in 2009 concluding that Israel had taken actions amounting to war crimes, Rabbi Lerner said on Wednesday.
Rabbi Lerner, who lives in Berkeley, Calif., said the third incident of vandalism in less than a year occurred at his home on Tuesday night. Several posters depicting him as a Nazi were glued to his front gate and his garage door and discovered Wednesday morning.
The Times has four readers' comments. Astoundingly, two rationalize the attacks. "As the saying goes, He is a shandah far di goyim, (an embarrassment)." Rabbi Lerner please explain what happened to our community. H/t Brian Dana Akers.
