MIchael,
There are a few facts and realities at odds with this clip. First of all, this seems to be from Le Pen, the French neo-fascist group, now under the guidance of his daughter, Marine, who is using a new "people's face" to gloss over in a reductio ad absurdum argument the very real issues of immigration and assimilation and appealing to fear (proven in test after test as causing people to forget critical thinking) and prejudice.

Secondly, it is put forth by the 700 Club--which along with Fox is better known as an ideological movement rather than a traditional, balanced news or media outlet. The 700 Club has consistent problems not only with basic facts, but with the interpretations of these facts. They really can't be trusted.
To address the first: Le Pen is famous for fast and loose figures and "analysis". In short, they are usually wrong.

Secondly, the 700 Club.
The population of Marseille is actually three population figure according to the way the French calculate: the historic center, the urban center and the metropolitan center. To use the US thinking, the latter is around 1,560,000 millions (2009, Wikipedia) which would make the "Muslim" population at one quarter (if we quote the 700 Club) as being ca. 400,000. The Wikipedia can be wrong, but has been shown to be at least as accurate as the Britannica in most facts. A population of 400,000 Muslims is twice the official French figure, cited from the Chamber of Commerce in Marseille (150,000 to 200,000 is what they cite).

Secondly, not all Arabs speak Arab. Arab is an ethnic group, some of whom speak Arabic. Some also speak Turkic dialects and Kurdish, some Syriac, some even Berber dialects. Many ethnic Arabs speak Arab dialects, some of which are routed in Greek. The proper term in English, by the way, is Arabic, or precisely, Modern Standard Arabic, not Arab. (The 700 Club is never big on distinctions.)

Whites vs. non-whites. As an anthropologist I have no idea what this term ''whites" means. I can say that the way it used in this film clip, is that it is good, while non-whites is not. Lebanon means, "Country of the Whites" and Syria is full of people who are much lighter than the general population of Italy below Rome, or for that matter, southern France (1/3 of Marseille is of Italian extractions, Chamber of Commerce again.)  Iraq has very light people and some very dark--the marsh Arabs, the heirs from southern African slaves with the cycle cell trait brought in to work since they didn't die from malaria at the same rates as ordinary slaves). The people of the Maghreb are quite diverse physically, being often of Berber or even Vandal genetic heritage. The ruling classes of most of the Arab countries are lighter than the rank and file citizen, as in the US, Brazil and many other places.

Most Arabs in the US, by the way, are light and easily fit with the general population. 51-52%, are Christian. The number of Arabs who are some sect of Islam changes according to how the figures are gathered, but generally hovers around 50-70%. Prior to WWII, southern Italians were not Whites, nor Jews either. Mystically, after Ashley Montagu's (born Israel Ehrenberg)  writing of the UN Declaration of Universal Rights, Jews became White and other "marginal" peoples (Sicilians, Maltese, etc. were sorta, kinda, swept up in the Era of Good Feelings and admitted to the Whites' Only toilets in the US, but every country and culture have their own ideas about how to divide our specie).

Sharia law. This is not hardwired but changes from place to place and time to time. Islam has no central authority and never has, thus, there are dozens of forms of Sharia, as indeed there are of Islam. To spread fear about "Sharia" is to spread fear about Christian law or Chinese law--it simply doesn't exist as a coherent, definitive database. It is just like any other made up fantasy: e.g., pornography, "I know it when it see it." .

Role of woman. France gave women the vote in 1948, Turkey in 1927. So much for Islam suppressing women. Woman had legal and property right in every type of Islam from the 7th AD onwards except the far excesses of the peasant, hill people where atavistic belief--such as the Christianity touted by Bob Jones University as being the only true Christianity--held forth. What we see waved in our faces is tribal, not religious. The French police has identified all of 400 full time Muslim burka wearers in all of France (sorry, I can't remember this cite). This clip showed us around 10% and was probably from a TV news segment on the burka law discussion. France is rigidly secular--one can't go around with a huge gold crucifix dangling in the breeze. Nor can they wear a Hopi corn god outfit to a public event--it isn't legal. (I agree with this and besides, Hopi corn gods don't wear much and the bodies of most of the French is not good viewing.)

Burkas are neither worn nor desired by the overwhelming mass of Muslims and in general, are looked upon as we do with Mormon women wearing snoods. How many of these burka wearing individual are Iranians, where their form of Shia does indeed mandate burkas? We are not told. Does anyone know? I doubt it. How many are Iranian transsexuals where yes, their form of Shia believes that you have to be a transsexual to explain your desire for the same sex. And yes, there are state subsidizes to have sexual reassignment surgery. More such surgeries are done in Iran than any other country (Thailand is second.)

Educated Muslims are indeed quite aware that their cultures are hobbled by sexual discrimination. But why did Pakistan have a female head of state long before Britain? And why did the Prophet's wife conduct divine service when in the West, woman who did so were burned alive? Once again, please explain. I see it as a Muslim issue. They will simply battle it out within their own private ranks.

I don't relish being a champion of Islam because like all monotheistic cults I find it limiting and ultimately, rather foolish. Along with Judaism and Christianity, there is simply too much in their theology which can and does go wrong. But when stacked up again Christianity, Islam has been remarkedly sane and practical. And if it wasn't for Baghdad holding back the Mongol hoards, there would have been no Renaissance. And all of this at a time when the thugs and mercenaries of Europe went raping and pillaging in Jerusalem, leaving the city in ruins and everyone (including other Christians) demoralized and in shock.

The Christian West sacked Constantinople in 1204 and we lost so much of the wisdom of antiquity, that we don't know how much. But we have Aristotle due to the vile, Muslims (read terrorists) and what little of Greek physics, optics and chemistry/ geometry/mathematics, etc. which has survived. Only Islam saved them, neither the Jews or the Church really cared. It was only due to the curiosity of these infidels that we have what little we do have.

Islam is now enduring an internal battle among all the cultures and it has been written, that the future of Islam lies in the US, where all the strains can come together. It is not realistic to project that Sharia is a threat and certainly, foolish given that Orthodox Jewish law is recognized in many states, NY being one of them. (Once again, Judaism has many legal systems, just like Islam.)  The level of ignorance about Islam in the US is not only dangerous, but stupid. Most Muslims I know are very kind and open about their beliefs moreso than the Jews. The 700 Club has again and again proven itself the enemy of all the principles of the US Foundation, most of all, the Enlightenment. They don't believe in the rights of woman of or sexual minorities. And ultimately, they don't toleration theocratic pluralities. Like all ideological movements, they pick and choose facts, figures and analysis only what they choose to and then at a level often laughable. Moreover, I have yet to meet a "Christian" pastor who really knows Greek or can explain the difference in the sacred text of Luke 2:14, "Peace on earth and goodwill towards men" from "Peace on earth to men of goodwill."

So all in all, I should worry far less about Islam and far more about Christianity. JHS

Being happy–is it good for the Jews? "Before Professor Dershowitz accused me of being an anti-Semite (news to me), I was a happy person. Since then, I'm still a happy person". –Michael Santomauro

An anti-Semite condemns people for being Jews, I am not an anti-Semite.--Michael Santomauro

Most of us are mentally trapped to think Jewish. Actually, it is safe to say that virtually every mainstream publication or or other type of media organ is "nothing more than a screen to present chosen views." The great battle over the last century has been a battle for the mind of the Western peoples, i.e., non-Jewish Euros. The chosen won it by acquiring control over essentially the complete mainstream news, information, education and entertainment media of every type, and using that control to infuse and disseminate their message, agenda and worldview, their way of thinking, or rather the way they want us to think. Since at least the 1960s this campaign has been effectively complete. Since then they have shaped and controlled the minds of all but a seeming few of us in varying degree with almost no opposition or competition from any alternative worldview. So now most of us are mentally trapped in the box the chosen have made for us, which we have lived in all our lives. Only a few have managed to avoid it or escape it, or to even sometimes see outside of it, and so actually "think outside of the (Jewish) box." --Michael Santomauro
