In August 1989, JDO founder Mordechai Levy was arrested following a dramatic night-time confrontation with Irv Rubin and other JDL members. Levy was found guilty of felony assault with a deadly weapon, and served 18 months of a four-and-a-half year sentence. On April 22, 1993, JDO thugs attacked demonstrators who were protesting the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. At least one person was seriously injured.
