Brit Without Milah

The most compelling argument against treating Brit Milah differently from other infant circumcision is that since genital modification is a human rights issue (as it clearly is for girls), to oppose circumcision only for non-Jews would be to say that "Jewish babies have fewer human rights than other babies." From this point of view, it is clearly making an exception that would be anti-Semitic.

The blog was the first to break the IDF censor's prohibition against naming Anat Kamm as a former IDF soldier held for leaking secret military documents to Haaretz reporter, Uri Blau.[2] It was also the first to break a gag order and identify "Captain George" (Doron Zahavi), a former interrogator in the Israeli Intelligence Corps, accused of sodomizing Lebanese prisoner Mustafa Dirani.[3] Furthermore, the blog published the full version of a report that was heavily censored within Israel, about the top secret nuclear missile airbase in Sdot micha.[4] Silverstein was the first to publish the name of the Israeli soldier featured in a YouTube video abusing a bound, blind-folded Palestinian woman detainee, Ihsan Dababseh, by dancing a suggestive Arab dance around her.[5] The soldier, Avi Yakobov, subsequently refused to apologize to the detainee and said that while his behavior had been childish, he claimed that she had been arrested for attempting to stab another soldier. Though she was later convicted of belonging to Islamic Jihad and served a 22-month sentence, she was neither charged with nor convicted of the assault Yakobov claimed.

Olam was the first media outlet to publish a secret IDF memo describing the rules by which the Gaza siege was maintained including lists of banned foods and other basic necessities. The military refused to release it citing danger to national security, until Gisha, the Israeli NGO, forced it to do so under a Freedom of information legislation request.[6] Israeli media published the story two days later.[7]

Freiburg Conference is behind us and it was a major success.

This is my opportunity to thank you all, panellists, organizers, audience and readers for your endless support and dedication. 

The conference was a gathering of some of the most articulate and innovative minds within our discourse and beyond. We had a list of panellists  who did not follow any particular party line but were dedicated to the principles of justice, ethics and universalism. We are talking here about public figures who manage to withstand Zionist and crypto Zionist pressure, including physical threats. We were lucky to be facilitated by an organisation (Cafe Palestine Freiburg)  that is genuinely interested in Palestine and justice.  Our audience were willing to listen and engage in open  discussion.  The entire event was smooth and productive. It left us with hope and fuelled  many of us with a renewed belief in a better future.  

Against all odds we managed to discuss different topics to do with the boundaries of our discourse. We identified numerous obstacles. But we also found the time to focus on the enemy within- sadly enough, all panellists were subjected to relentless  pressure mounted on them by elements within the Jewish 'anti' Zionist network. Everyone involved in the conference, without exception, was  repelled by their sabotaging attempts
