| As Average U.S. Hourly Wage Drops, Government Rings up $1.3 Trillion Budget Deficit Posted: 16 Oct 2010 02:39 AM PDT
According to figures released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the average U.S. hourly wage dropped in September by 0.01 percent and has only increased by 0.5 percent during the financial year from September 2009 to September 2010. The BLS also announced that Americans earning an hourly wage worked, on average, 1.2 percent longer each week in September 2010 than they did in September 2009. This alone disproves the argument that the immigration invasion has been economically beneficial, as it is precisely in this job sector that the impact of immigration will have been most keenly felt. On the same day as the BLS figures came out, the government announced a record $1.3 trillion federal deficit for the just-completed budget year. That means the government had to borrow 37 cents out of every dollar it spent as tax revenues continued to lag as a result of the economic downturn. Significantly, spending on food stamps and unemployment benefits went up at the same time, another clear indication of the economic problems caused by the immigration crisis. A large percentage of the deficit is made up out of Obama's $814 billion "economic stimulus" last year and from former President George W. Bush's $700 billion bailout of Wall Street. Last week, the Congressional Budget Office reported that apart from the bailout, the federal budget went up by 9 percent in the 2010 budget year to $3.5 trillion. Food stamp payments rose 27 percent and unemployment benefits rose 34 percent. Furthermore, Treasury estimates already published indicate that the deficit for the 2011 budget year will climb to $1.4 trillion and, over the next decade, will climb to $8.47 trillion. It is clear that the traditional Republican or Democratic representatives have no idea of the true causes of the economic crisis which threaten America's very existence. Speaking on the current impasse in talks between Israel and the Palestinians after the latter rejected an offer by Israel to stop building settlements in Palestinian territory, Mr. Crowley reiterated his commitment to the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. "We recognize the special nature of the Israeli state. It is a state for the Jewish people," he said. Mr. Crowley added that the Obama administration was backing this issue as a "core demand of the Israeli government, which we support." Israel recently approved a demand for new, non-Jewish citizens to swear loyalty to Israel as a "Jewish State," but members of its government have pushed to extend the demand to all non-Jews. The hypocrisy of the situation lies in the fact that the Obama administration — and all the elected politicians in Washington DC — will support this "core demand" of Israel to be Jewish. There is, of course, nothing wrong with a demand by Jews for their own state. Such a demand is perfectly natural and a right which should be accorded to all people on earth. The actual mechanics of Jews exercising that right in Israel is the cause of the dispute with the Arab world. But that, as far as the American Third Position is concerned, is another matter entirely. We are interested in the concept of a "state for Jews" as, we argue, this justifies the creation of a state for all other ethnic groups as well. After all, if Jews have the right to their own state, then why do European Americans not have that same right? Why would the U.S. State Department claim Israel's right to be ethnically Jewish and a state for "Jews only" while denying that right to all other ethnic groups? No one would question the right of Mexicans to their own state. No one would question the right of Nigerians to their own state. No one would question the right of the Chinese to their own state. So why is any demand by European Americans for their own state dismissed as "evil" and "bigoted?" What the American Third Position demands is the same right which is accorded to Jews in Israel, Mexicans in Mexico, Nigerians in Nigeria, and the Chinese in China. It is utter hypocrisy for the U.S. State Department to endorse a state for Jews only, while actively seeking to destroy the state which European Americans created for themselves and their descendants. |
